Streamwise is conducting the first ever Gen Factor Index

18-Mar-2009 Gen Factor is the generation and gender impact on talent management strategies. When we talk with senior executives about the major issues keeping them awake at night, attracting and retaining talent is always top of the list.

But a strategy for managing ‘talent’ (or ‘human capital’) is a big picture concept that doesn’t capture the essence of the specific needs of groups and individuals within the workforce. Developing employee potential is personal. Age, life stage, gender and personal circumstance all have an impact on what people want and need to stay engaged and productive in the workplace.

The issues for men vs. women become more pronounced when children arrive. Economic and environmental conditions change the way each generation and gender experiences different life stages.

A recent AHRI survey indicates that over 70% of HR practitioners think their organisations should have strategies in place to manage generational differences. Despite this belief over 70% of them do not have such a strategy.

To begin to address these issues, a clear and holistic picture of current reality is necessary. So that’s why we are creating of the Gen Factor Index. To gather information and benchmark best practice programs and processes by generation and gender.

Using data from participant organisations, simply administered engagement surveys and an analysis of successful programs Streamwise is creating a comparative Index to help participating organisations fine tune their approach to managing talent.
